Recipes are a true representation of the lifestyles of our ancestors. Many recipes are handed down from generation to generation. Where would we be without recipes? How could grandma share her favorite dishes? The wonderful taste of her homemade apple pie would be lost forever. For the most part, as children we take the food we eat for granted. We do not really care about the recipes used in preparation, or even how these recipes came to be. We simply love the food. Ironically, as we grow, some of the dishes we grew tired of during childhood, become dishes we yearn to taste again. Without recipes, this would not be possible.

No matter where you go, people are always looking for good recipes. Recipes are one of the most shared forms of the written word. Books with recipes are the most frequently created type of book. Recipes have endured the test of time. Even with fast food mania rampant in our societies, we still cherish the old-time favorite recipes. If this weren't true there would not be so many people making money from simply a book of recipes.

Recipes bring back enjoyable holiday memories like Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Imagine Thanksgiving without your favorite recipe for stuffing, or Christmas without those special cookies? It wouldn't feel like a holiday.

The food we eat is very different from our settler ancestors but we still use the same baisc recipes for cooking corn or preparing beef. Just the use of modern technology to cook alters they it's now prepared.

But even with all of these recipes available, we still love enjoy the fast food route. It saves us time when we are tired, when the kids are cranky or when you have a big day ahead of you tomorrow and you just don't feel like cooking.
