The Tucson Half Marathon

The tucson half marathon was my first race coming back from a long lay off of running. The race before this was 10 years earlier and it was the Boston Marathon.

Successful marathon training requires careful planning and preparation. But take the time to follow a well-structured schedule. Whether your goal is to run sub 3 hours or 'just' to finish, ideally you need to give yourself at least 18 weeks prior to the event...
And that assumes you have a solid running base to start with - currently averaging 20 plus miles per week.
But even for experienced marathon runners, allowing enough time and putting in the miles isn't enough.

Picking a "best" marathon can be like finding a good piece of chocolate in a sampler box of candies: You either take the plunge--and possibly pay the price for it--or you rely on the advice of someone else who has eaten a piece before (or in this case, has done a particular marathon before).

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong was among the runners in the 112th Boston Marathon. He finished 496th in 2:50:58. Armstrong ran in celebration of Nike's LIVESTRONG Collection.
