Run a qualifying marathon - training only 3 days a week!
I'm going to pass one my personal experience with the 'train 3 days a week' program. My running buddy, (we'll refer to him as 'Ted'), and I both used a 3-day a week program this fall to qualify. I'll attempt to give a practitioner's rendition of the pros and cons of it. I'll talk about what we would do differently and how effective it was.

Building strength on the run
Posted On 11/5/2006 6:28:14 PM by Sandy
As a rule, strength training is usually incorporated into a triathlete's training regime for two reasons: to further develop the muscles that are involved in running (and cycling and swimming) and to prevent injury. The greater your strength and endurance, the more capable you are of having better performances and fewer injuries.

Posted On 5/3/2007 8:23:45 AM by Sandy
Bricks refer to training on two disciplines during the same workout, one after the other with minimal or no interruption in between, just as you would do in a race. Usually when people talk about bricks they refer to a bike/run workout, but bricks could also refer to a swim/bike workout or to a run/bike workout for duathlons.

Posted On 4/10/2007 10:08:04 AM by Sandy
As most can agree, the winter months are ideal for indoor training. Opinions will differ when you ask people what the best indoor workout is. The majority of people will likely train on a stationary bike at their local health club, while others, who are really into their sport, will have an indoor trainer set up in their home with their own bike attached to it. Both are very common.
