If you've been a runner for any length of time, and especially if you've made the time commitment to train for a full or half marathon, inevitably you've listened to music on an mp3 player to pass the hours and hours of (let's face it, sometimes dull) training you have to do. But when it comes to running or athletic training of any kind, not all music is created equal, as we all know.

Do you need a little musical motivation to get you going? This site offers some fantastic beats that are named based on the beats per second. These fantastic podcasts are a must as the songs usually start off nice and mellow and then increase in intensity just as your workout routine should. Running on a Treadmill or Cycling on a Trainer becomes a whole lot easier when listening to these great podcasts.

Cool Running :: The iPod conflict brews in racing

There’s a growing conflict between the running establishment and the iPod wearers. More and more races are vigorously enforcing their ‘no-iPod’ rules. A half marathon I was at recently wouldn’t start the race until everyone turned in his or her headphones.

On Fitnessmagazine.com, the singer Rihanna reveals her favorite workout songs — immodestly recommending four of her own for “when you have to pick up the pace on the treadmill.”
