Posted On 5/21/2008 1:36:12 PM by TriFatlete
A running program will provide a number of great benefits to you. It will increase your cardio-vascular efficiency, making your heart stronger and more efficient. It will also increase your basal metabolic rate, helping you burn more calories when you’re at rest. And running itself burns calories at a rate of about 115 calories per mile. Make Your Body Burn More Calories
Posted On 6/26/2006 11:02:37 PM by Sandy
Metabolic Rate is the rate at which the body burns up calories. A body
that consumes 2500 calories a day, and burns 2500 calories a day will
stay at the same weight. A body consuming 2500 calories daily but
burning only 2000 will gain weight at the rate of about 1lb a week. You
can do quite a lot to speed up your metabolism – the secret of burning
calories lies in knowing what determines your metabolic rate and what
you can do to influence it.

Is Your Scale Driving You Crazy?
Posted On 6/26/2006 11:02:37 PM by Sandy
Your goal is to lose weight. Perhaps, this is a good reason
as any to obsess over the numbers on your scale. After all,
the scale measures your body weight, and weight is something
that you want to lose, right?
Not exactly!
What you want to lose is FAT.
Our body is mainly comprised
of water, muscle, organ tissue, fat and bone. The scale
measures the total weight of all the elements that our body
contains. It does not give us any idea on how much of this
weight is, in fact, fat.

Tips For A Host Of Dieting Guests
Posted On 6/26/2006 11:02:37 PM by Sandy
Martha Stewart once said about dieting, "The toughest part
of a diet isn't watching what you eat. It's watching what
other people eat." Attending a party is very difficult when
you're on a diet. Also, hosting a party when you know many
of your guests are a diet can be maddening. What do you
serve? Low fat or low-carb? You can't plan your menu to
accommodate all the current diets on the menu. But, you can
set up an atmosphere that centers on socializing rather than
on feasting on appetizers.

Fat Loss - The Truth on Fat Loss and How to Achieve it
Posted On 6/26/2006 11:02:37 PM by Sandy
Fat Loss in GeneralThis morning I conducted a search engine "search" on the word fat loss. "Fat Loss" and "Fat Loss Supplements", being the most popular keywords, came up with a combined 1800 links, in one search engine. I went to the next search engine I ran a word count on "fat loss" rather than a link count. The results came up as 46106! WOW! Why is it that fat loss / losing body fat related information and products are so much in demand, yet obesity and being overweight are on the up and up, and are actually at the highest rate ever. With the health and fitness industry booming it seems absurd that this is occurring. Doesn't it?
